2 months

Hazel Marion at 2 months old

Hazel had her 2 month doctor's appointment on Friday (one week late), so I was finally able to get all her stats!  She was such a brave girl, and only cried for a few minutes after her shots (basically from when they gave her the shots to when I nursed her).  According to her pediatrician, Hazel is growing beautifully and is absolutely perfect.  We kinda knew that one already though!

Weight:  12 lbs 14 oz (75th percentile)
Length:  23.5 inches (75th percentile)

Likes:  Cuddling & being held, playing with the toys on her playmat, "talking," swinging, making funny faces, watching tv (when it's on, she can't look away), kicking her legs, smiling

Dislikes:  Being hungry, having a dirty diaper, doing tummy time for longer than 15 minutes

Eating:  From day one, Hazel has been a great eater!  She loves breastfeeding, and we continue to feed on demand.  She has recently settled into somewhat of a routine, and she eats roughly every 2-2.5 hours.  Although she still eats pretty frequently, her time nursing is getting shorter as she becomes more and more efficient at it.

We've been trying to give her a bottle once every few days to get her used to it before I go back to work.  Some days she'll take it no problem, but other days she fights it.  Last weekend was the first time we could not get her to take the bottle at all, which honestly is more than okay with me, but makes me nervous for daycare in a few weeks.

Sleeping:  Hazel isn't on a set schedule yet, but we try to follow an eat-play-sleep routine (although many days it's more like eat-play-eat-sleep).  She naps well, and at night she usually gives us a 6-7 hour stretch.  When we were at the beach over Labor Day, she was sleeping more like 8-10 hour stretches!  Although that was short lived, we're still really happy with our current schedule.  Now we just need to get her bedtime moved up (she's continued to be quite the night owl!)

Milestones:  Smiling when she sees or hears her mom or dad, following us or her toys with her eyes, batting and grabbing toys on her playmat, the 'mini push-up' during tummy time, lifting & holding her head up, bearing weight on her legs when you hold her in the standing position, cooing and babbling

starting over

Hi friends!  Even though this blog was created to document our sweet baby Hazel for friends and family, near and far, I've found that finding time to blog with a baby is easier said than done!  I seriously debated just shutting it down... And really found that just documenting our days wasn't enough motivation to blog.

So I'm starting over around here!  And my goal is to blog a few times a week... Not only on our daily activities and Hazel's overwhelming cuteness, but our experience with parenthood.  Surprisingly, being honest about new parenthood is also easier said than done.

So, once again, please follow along!
